Pelvic floor dysfunction happens when the muscles, ligaments, and tissues that support the bladder, rectum, and sexual organs weaken or become tight. It can cause pain and affect bladder and bowel function. People may have trouble urinating or passing a stool when the muscles are thigh or spasm. When they weaken, the organ within the pelvis may drop and press down on the rectum and bladder.
